Well I was originally coming for maybe 3 months and it’s turned into almost 6! This has been an amazing experience for me in so many ways. I’ve gone out of my comfort zone, I’ve lived in a communal space, I got the opportunity to turn an idea into reality, I have time to reflect and I’ve made many new friends.
I’ve learnt
some Portuguese, I could have learnt more with some study time and telling the
others not to speak to me in English – but hey. Thanks especially to Alaf and
Kiko for being my patient teachers J
It been
great getting my project of the community massage clinic up and running and
also teaching others the ‘basics’ of seated relaxation massage. If your
visiting make sure you ask one of the volunteers for a massage – They DO know
how to give them ;) We hope to find someone soon who can carry on the massage
clinic.
Im really
grateful to have any beautiful people. If anyone is curious about volunteering
here I say GO FOR IT! Whether you’re a local or from overseas, this really is
an opportunity and a beautiful welcoming space to volunteer.
Thanks to
Sandra and Santi for starting Aramitan, talking with me in NZ and giving me the
opportunity to be involved. Thanks to Coral for planting the seed J Thanks to Este, Manu, Francisco and
Alemao for welcoming me to Brazil/Aramitan, showing me the ropes, supporting
me, music, laughs and great friendship. Thanks to the MANY people I’ve met
along the way – too many to mention but you have each made a mark, and there
will be long lasting friendships for sure. Thank you to all my friends and
family back in NZ that have donated their money and time to really make this
happen and your continued love and support.
Atte mais
and Beijos J
